The PCi catalogue is displayed in an internet browser window and uses Adobe Acrobat PDF files to display product information.
Some default settings in certain versions of Adobe Acrobat may prevent PDF files from being displayed in the browser window. You will need to change these.
To prevent the error "Error reading linearized hint data" when trying to view the Adobe PDF files in your web browser follow the instructions below.
- Open Acrobat Reader on its own from your Start Menu or desktop shortcut.
- From the Acrobat Reader menubar select Edit / Preferences / Internet.
- Disable - i.e. uncheck - the entry: "Allow fast web view".
- Click OK to save the changes.
- Close down Acrobat Reader and start the catalogue via the "Continue" button below.
- Now the PDFs will be displayed without any problem.

Please note that this change will not affect anything other than your ability to view Acrobat PDF files in your browser window.
If more than one version of Adobe Acrobat is installed on your machine this can create a registry conflict in which Internet Explorer is unable to determine which programme should open the file. In this case it will not give an error message but simply display a placeholder icon. The only solution to this is to uninstall both versions via the "Add / Remove Programmes" link in the Control Panel and then reinstall the later version.
